portrait of Greg Parr, the artist Working in pen and ink is my long time passion since college times when I first tried the technique of stippling. It is often called "pointillism" also, but "stippling" was the earlier name to me, and after all these many years of patient and slow drawing this is how I prefer to call it.

I think of my portraits as of reflection of majesty and awesome beauty of the horse. It is not that much about the likeliness, although I do care about it, but so much so it is about catching the spirit, the personality of each and every horse.

Understanding the horse before I start to work on the portrait is very important to me, and I often talk with the owners and ask many questions if I feel like I do not know enough to ensure a successful portrait. Through the years, almost all my customers were more than happy to share little details about their equine friends, those precious tiny things that are not apparent from even the best photograph, and I am very grateful for their help and for making me feel like I know every horse personally.

I am looking forward to create for you a memorable work of art that captures the uniqueness of your horse.
